NHL Finals Facts!

If anyone else is watching the NHL Finals, you will know that it pits the Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks together in a best of 7 series.

What you may not know is that a Canuck is a slang term for a Canadian.

A Bruin is an archaic (old fashioned) term for a Bear.

The Vancouver Canucks are the most western team in the NHL.

The Boston Bruins are the most eastern team in the NHL.

Therefore this will be the most traveled Stanley Cup Finals in NHL history.  This matchup is also the third Coast to Coast Stanley Cup final in NHL history.  Each time this has occurred the Canucks were involved.

If Vancouver does win the Stanley Cup, the Sedin twins will become the 11th set of brothers to win a Cup on the same team.

Boston on the other hand does not have siblings among their players playing in the NHL.

Boston is the first Original Six team to face a team from Canada in the Stanley Cup Finals since they faced Edmonton in 1990.  They lost that series in five games to give Edmonton its fifth Stanley Cup in seven seasons.
